World Fusion – Dance into fitness

03 Feb 2022

10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Pegswood Welfare, Front Street, NE61 6UF

These sessions are all about moving your body, getting active, being present and having fun, without the need to get it right, this is not a technique or performance class. The classes are designed to get you in touch with your physical and emotional body. Dance it out and shake it out, all to a great soundtrack of contemporary and world music. Empowering and confidence boosting!
This is a fitness workout open to ‘every body’ to get your hips and whole self moving. It is suitable for many different levels – if you have no dance experience, if you love to dance but haven’t for a long time, the lead and follow format allows you to quickly join in and begin to enjoy the experience of the dance. It’s a perfect place to renew your love of the dance, feeling the joy of movement activating your body, mind, and spirit.

You will be introduced to basic steps that are built up into sequences which come together to create the dance. The style draws inspiration from the dances of the Middle East, India, North Africa, and Spanish Flamenco. It combines high-energy moves with the slow and sensual to create a fusion that celebrates dance across many cultures. In class I aim to create a safe, supportive environment in which you can learn, grow, get fit, and express yourself through movement.

You can dance along in the comfort of your own home in our online classes. Each session includes a warmup and cool down. We will be working on building stamina, flexibility, balance, strength, and muscle tone, so you feel great. Know always that you have the choice to sit out or pause at any time during the sessions if you need to. This is not high impact exercise but if you do have any physical health issues, we recommend you consult your Dr before joining us.
You don’t need any special clothes just wear something comfortable, trousers or a skirt, but if you do want to dress up a bit, tie a scarf round your hips and add a flower in your hair. We dance with bare feet or soft soled shoes not trainers. Have some water handy to stay hydrated.

Running weekly for 4 weeks from 13th January.
