Volunteers needed!
To #changethestory in Northumberland about domestic abuse and violence against women and girls NCC are working together to take over all 5 of Northumberland parkruns and show our support for a different future.
On November 25th in Newbiggin, Druridge Bay, Tyne Green, Carlisle Park, and Blyth the parkruns will be supported by volunteer marshals – and we are asking you to help.
We are looking for volunteers to attend any of the above parkruns from 8:30-10:30am on Saturday 25th November, to help marshal the runs (ensure people stay on the track), hand out white ribbons and mini torches to runners, and to be part of a county wide moment to raise awareness of domestic abuse, violence against women and girls. To stand up for a county where we can all grow, live and thrive.
If this is something you feel you can do, individually or as a team – please contact
angela.watt@northumberland.gov.uk .
There will be an opportunity ahead of the event to meet other marshals and find out more about parkrun, about the council’s White Ribbon accreditation, and the domestic abuse services available – but this is not mandatory, being at one of the locations on the morning is the ask!
Parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. Parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning. Parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last.
